hmm, from what I see, Tales of Things is a closed system, i.e. it only has a fixed bunch of parameters that you can attach to things. whereas protoTAG is entirely open, you can use it in any way you want. that said, you could make a protoTAG front-end that would look and work exactly like tales of things, but you can also make a gazzilion other front-ends that would look and work very differently...
