On this page the input given on the project will be displayed, updated when new input comes in.
The site
- Site needs more facilities, e.g. supermarket, shops.
- Green space is needed, trees, a park.
- It could use housing, but it would need to be cheap
- It's very empty and dark at night.
- Most people just visit for work and don't stay, they'll just take the ferry back home.
- People who work on the site mostly don't have an actual connection with NDSM, they just come there for work.
- Artists from the Kunststad really want to keep the festival site open and have been trying to shoot down development plans.
- Exhibition space is needed. People have tried but failed because of strict regulations.
- The people who live in the container houses are mostly Eastern Europeans staying for a couple of months maximum. They have no connection with the site.
Comments on first concept (art,artist, public)
- Try and include green space in or around it.
- There's no way a beginning artist would be able to afford a brand new studio and atelier at the same time.
- Living and working at the same location is something most artists wouldn't appreciate.
- Using the water is a positive idea.
- People appreciate the public function/route.
- Exhibition space is also appreciated.
Suggestions
- Create space for creative companies with a slightly higher budget, like architects and graphic designers.
- Combine exposition space with shopping.
- Create synergy between the Kunststad and the new building; the new building could be an addition with exhibition space or meeting rooms.
