Intro + first scetch
NDSM is a cultural and creative hotspot on the IJ in Amsterdam. It's a place for (international) companies that wish to contribute to special cultural programs within the fields of art, new technology and sustainability. The NDSM wharf presents itself as host for parties, festivals and art projects, but also as an initiator and developer of innovative, exceptional and cultural events. The best way to reach the NDSM wharf is by ferry, it's the quickest way to get there from Amsterdam city center. At this very moment, when arriving at the wharf, there is only a plain platform. The first idea was creating an object that would be representative for the context. The object should enhance the NDSM experience by arrival; an entrance for a special place. Because everyone has to pass through this platform, this place has great potential for creating interaction between the different users of NDSM wharf.
